The sciatic is the longest nerve in the human body that is located behind the leg and goes from the buttocks down to the back of the leg and it ends in the feet. This sciatic nerve is very prone to certain injuries and when it is pinched or dislocated it can cause severe pain that can even become permanent.
This pain can be chronic and depending on the individual can also interrupt the daily movement and chores.
The common treatment that doctors recommend is painkillers and pain medications that can have a lot of bad side effects and they may help the pain temporarily but in the long run they cannot do that much good.
There are several healthier alternatives to this medication and some of them include yoga, meditation, chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, massages and so on.
Exercise is one other very effective way to prevent damage to this nerve and soothe the pain should it happen. This following exercise can be done from anywhere and it is very simple and it will go a long way into easing your life with this affliction.
The following exercise will provide you great pain relief and not only of the sciatic nerve but the back too.
1 Minute daily sciatic exercise:
Sit on the ground with your legs extended in front of you while straightening your back. Bend one leg and pull it towards your body and hold that position for about 10 second. Release and them repeat the same process with the other leg.
In the second part of this exercise you need to lie on our back. Slowly lift up your legs towards your stomach and bend the knees. Repeat this movement for about 5-6 times. After this do the same thing but with the one leg only. This time hold the bent position for 10 seconds and repeat the same with the other leg.
As a great finish start in the first position with the legs extended towards you and with your fingers try to touch the toes while stretching. Old this position 10 seconds.
